French Trip 2017 - Day 3
Day3: Good start to the day with a later alarm call: Mrs Read thoroughly enjoyed the use of her brand new 'Tornado 2000' .....whistle! We enjoyed a traditional french breakfast, comprising of chocolat chaud and croissant served in a french bowl.
Off we went to the market in St Omer where we photobombed the local news (yes, fame at last) and cleared the market of all fidget spinners.
Weighed down, we made our way through a thunderstorm to Wierre Effoy where had lunch in the park and walked to the "boulangerie" where we were met by a "interesting" baker, just ask the kids! We learnt how to make croissants, bread and widened our french vocabulary.
We continued our trip to the beach in Boulogne where the children played games and buried each other in the sand. The sun had now returned and we were blessed again with the glorious weather.
Finally we had a flying visit to the shopping mall where the children stocked up on sweets and the adults on 'Ribena'!
Last but not least. the eagerly awaited snail tasting! This was quite a challenge for some but the children tried their hardest to swallow the little antennaed molluscs. "slimy... yet satisfying".
Tomorrow, after the children tidy their rooms and change their beds, we will visit the much anticipated chocolate workshop for a talk, the opportunity to decorate their own chocolate bar and spend their last few euros before boarding the ferry for home.
