French Trip 2018 - Day 3
We possibly weren’t the children’s favourite people in the world as we woke them up this morning. At 6.15am. With a blast of loud music. However, despite the early reveille they were all excited about the delights of Parc Asterix and very soon we were all up, breakfasted and on the coach. We arrived at the theme park not long after it opened and the Sandye Place staff quickly established a base at an easily accessible point, enabling the pupils to explore the park in groups on their own. Regular check-ins with teachers were made and in the meantime the pupils went on rollercoasters, water rides and loop-the-loops. Unlike the cooler weather of Calais, the weather near Paris was 30 degrees and humid – ice creams and cold drinks were the order of the day! The children did really well, ordering their own drinks and refreshments in French and we were all impressed with their persistence and desire to do well and speak to the locals in their own language.
We arrived back at the Chateau tired but in good spirits ready to spend our last night here. After a delicious meal of chicken, or vegetarian lasagne, with potato wedges, the pupils have spent the remainder of their free time playing games outside and resting all ready for the trip home tomorrow. The staff have all remarked how well behaved the children have been all trip and what a delight they have been to spend time with. They have gradually lost their fear about speaking French and seem to realise that French people really DO speak this language and that the phrases and vocabulary they are learning really ARE used by French people (Mrs Read didn’t just make it up, honest!) We are all tired after our busy trip but very happy with all we have achieved and what we have experienced. Your children have been a pleasure to take away with us and have been a credit to both yourselves and the school.
