French Trip 2018 - Day 4
Sadly, today was our last morning in France. Once again we were blessed with warm weather enabling the children to play outside before packing up their rooms and helping load their luggage onto the coach. After this, we said farewell to the Chateau staff and waved goodbye to our guide, Cara. From there we travelled north for an hour to visit the chocolaterie outside of Calais. Once there, the children learnt how chocolate is made and were then shown how they could decorate their own individual bars. After this they were allowed in the shop to purchase gifts from an enticing array of delicious chocolate (so don’t eat too much this afternoon, people at home!)
The ferry journey was smooth and uneventful. We were lucky enough to be able to catch an earlier ferry, so fingers crossed we should be back in Sandy an hour before we had originally planned. Everyone - from the staff at customs, our coach driver Lloyd, and the staff at the Chateau – have commented on how polite and well-behaved the children are. They are returning tired but happy – à bientôt!
