Maths Update

It was lovely to see so many of you over the last few weeks at parents evening and you gave us lots of valuable feedback. Mainly you wanted to know how you could support your child at home, especially in the lead up to the SATs. I spoke to a few of you about revision guides, which we have now decided to purchase for every child in year six. Please expect your child to be bringing home two revision books, one focusing on Arithmetic and one on Reasoning. We will ask your child to write down the areas in which they need to improve on the inside front cover, so that they can practise at home.

In addition to this, the Maths teachers have put together a list of helpful websites for you and your child to use at home. Please remember that if your child has identified that they need more help with any specific topic, they can come along to our dedicated year six Maths homework club that is run daily in ICT1.

Websites:

www.mymaths.com – Online lessons on every topic, with games and activities.

www.sumdog.com  - Online games to practise skills and compete in school competitions.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks2/maths/ - Revision information and activities on all topics.

https://corbettmaths.com – Helpful videos on methods and resources to practise with.

https://www.mathsisfun.com - Helpful videos on methods and resources to practise with.

https://uk.ixl.com/maths/year-6 - A list of everything they learn in year 6 with example questions.

https://www.youtube.com/user/mathantics - Online video tutorials on methods.

We will be running another Parent Workshop on Wednesday the 14th March, but will send the letters out in the first week back after half term. Taking in to account feedback from the last workshop, this one will focus on written calculations. Keep an eye out for the letter!
