Ben Sale – Acting Principal 

Ben studied Sport (science and management) at Nottingham Trent University before qualifying as a teacher in 2006.  He joined Sandye Place in September 2008 and has previously been Head of Year 5, Coordinator of PE, Head of KS2 and Assistant Principal at the Academy. Ben joined the Board of Governors in September 2009.  Prior to his appointment as Assistant Principal, Ben was Staff Governor for a number of years.

Angela Desborough – Community Governor 

Angela worked as a Teaching Assistant and then a SEND administrator at Sandye Place Academy from December 2008 onwards and joined the Board of Trustees in May 2012 as Staff Governor.  She became Community Governor in May 2018 when she left the Academy's employ.  Before re-training to become a Teaching Assistant, Angela had a career in sales and recruitment.  She has two children who have both attended the Academy.  Sandy has been her home town for nearly 20 years.

Andy Fielding – Parent Governor 

Andy is a Computer systems Engineer working for a National IT solutions provider, prior to this career change he was a Self Employed Carpenter and Joiner specialising in Bespoke Joinery. He has two school age children and two grown up children and six grandchildren. He has been a retained Fireman, sat on other voluntary committees and is a member of a lower school PTA. He joined the Board of Trustees in 2015 and sits on the Operations and Finance Sub committees.

Steve Fox – Parent Governor 

Steve is an Electronic Engineer. Steve previously served in the armed forces and has since worked in both the private and public sectors supporting the forces. During this time Steve has developed his skills in procurement, finance, contracting and support management.  Steve joined the Board of Governors in September 2008 as a Parent Governor.

Hannah Ranson - Community Governor, Chair of the Board of Trustees 

Hannah is a Communications Accounts Team Manager at local charity the RSPB. She previously worked as a PR consultant specialising in working with organisations in the education sector.  Hannah joined the Board of Trustees in November 2010 as a Community Governor and in April 2011 became the Chair of the Marketing Committee bringing her experience of the press, marketing and communication to the committee.  Hannah became Chair of the Board of Trustees in July 2017.

Michael Greener - Community Governor 

Michael  is currently taking a career break having previously been a store and logistics manager for a major retailer for 33 years.

Michael joined the Board of Governors in September 2007 as a Parent Governor and in September 2010 became Vice-Chair and Chair of the Finance Committee. In September 2011 Michael took up the position as Chair, standing down from this in 2014 but remaining on the Board of Trustees.

Malcolm Riches - Parent Governor 

Malcolm has been a Lighting Sales manager for a UK manufacturer for 30 years giving him a broad breadth of business experience and social skills.  He is married with a 6 year old son and a 12 year old daughter who currently attends the Academy.  Malcolm has been a Sandy resident for over 30 years, who attended SPA (when it was Sandye Place) then Sandy Upper, on leaving school he took an apprenticeship as a Mechanical engineer.

Corine Riberaud - Assistant Principal, Associate Governor 

Corine studied English language, culture and literature at the University of Bordeaux.  She spent 2 years as a French assistant in South Wales where she took her PGCE.  She taught languages from Y7 to A levels in Stafford and became Head of Languages at Sandye Place Academy in September 2001.  She has since been Head of Year, Head of House and Head of PD.  Corine became Assistant Principal in April 2018 and became associate Governor from May 2018.

Peter Smith - LA Governor

Peter is married with two children of school age and two grown up.  He is a councillor at Central Bedfordshire and represents the Sandy, Beeston and Blunham ward.

He is currently a member of the licensing committee, and has sat on the Children's Services scrutiny committee and planning committees.

Currently working as a landscape gardener, Peter's previous career was mainly in the hospitality business and training and development within the pub sector.

Peter is Link Governor to the school council.

Sharon Kane – Assistant Principal, Associate Governor 

Sharon is Assistant Principal (Finance and Operations) at Sandye Place Academy.  Sharon joined Sandye Place in 2004 as Finance Manager. She moved to the UK from Ireland in 1991 where she launched the Tanning Shop. Sharon was responsible for the international operations of the company and successfully franchised the company to 150 stores nationwide.  Sharon specialises in financial facilities, marketing, human resources and system management.  Sharon joined the Board of Governors in September 2004 as Clerk to the Board of Governors.  Following her promotion to Assistant Principal, Sharon resigned from her post as Clerk to the Board of Governors but remains part of the governing body as an Associate Governor.

Cath Watters – Clerk to the Governing Body 

Cath is PA to the Principal and has been employed at the Academy since March 2010.  Prior to joining the school, Cath gained extensive experience in the public sector, firstly as a HR and Career Development Officer in the British Transport Police and subsequently as a Contract Manager for the Strategic Rail Authority managing contracts between the Government and the privatised Train Operating Companies.

Cath has extensive experience as a Community Governor at a local Lower School, and became Clerk to the Sandye Place Academy Board of Trustees in January 2012.  Cath has two children who have both attended the Academy.

Jo Stephens - Community Governor, Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees

Jo Stephens is a nurse at Sandy Health Centre.  She was an Intensive Care Sister in the past before moving into nursing management and then senior management roles.  She has experience in managing both large and small numbers of staff and has seen numerous change management projects through.

She has worked across both the NHS and private health care sectors in senior roles over the years but since becoming a mum she places a greater emphasis on that, than a career ladder.

She has several years of experience as a governor and was the Chair of a lower school for a further year after her daughter left, when she was persuaded to join us here at SPA, where her daughter attended until recently.

Thom Stonehouse - Staff Governor 

Thom has recently joined the Academy’s governing body as staff governor.  He has been working at the Academy since January 2013.  He is currently Head of PE at the Academy and is striving to work to help the Academy move forward with its future ventures.

Marc Ford - Staff Governor 

Marc has been the Site Manager at the Academy for last 14 years and has worked extremely hard during this time to improve the site and school environment.  He is a retained Firefighter and lives in Sandy with his wife and three children.  Marc joined the Board of Trustees in July 2018 as Support Staff Governor.

Robert Jefferson - Parent Governor 

Robert has worked in the IT industry for over 30 years and is currently working for BT as an IT Solutions Lead designing technical solutions for large corporate companies. He is married with one child who attends the Academy.  Robert joined the Board of Trustees in 2017.
